I tried installing Firefox and got an error like this :

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
So to get around this, you just need to run the command :
apt-get install --reinstall firefox-mozilla-build
Mozilla are without doubt doing the most innovative stuff on the web these days, in large web literacy war. Great and important work!
